Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College was established in the year 2002 and is managed by South Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India. The institute is approved by National Medical Council (NMC) and Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India. The college is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur and its campus is built over 25 acres of land.

Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College is one of the most reputed as well as oldest private medical colleges in Kerala. Located in Karakonam, a village, in the southern border of Thiruvananthapuram, the college offers top quality post graduate and under graduate medical programs under highly qualified faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College is attached to the Dr. Somervell Memorial Mission Hospital which was established in 1894. The college aims to provide better healthcare facilities to the people below poverty line in and around Trivandrum and Kanyakumari districts. This is the only medical college for CSI in the 5 southern states of India and Sri Lanka.
