The institute is approved by National Medical Council (NMC) and Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India. The college is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur and it’s campus is spread over an area of 50 acres.

DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the best private Medical colleges in Kerala.It is the first Medical College in Kerala established in a Backward, Hilly & Tribal District. Located in the beautiful, scenic surrounding of Wayanad situated in the Western ghats, the college offers top quality postgraduate MD/MS and undergraduate MBBS medical programs under highly qualified and trained faculty and world class infrastructure.

The college is run by DMERF trust, who created the college in Wayanad keeping in mind the lack of development in the district.
