A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore is one of the best BDS colleges and among the most well-known in Karnataka. Located in the salubrious surroundings of Mangalore, the college offers undergraduate BDS and postgraduate MDS which are recognized by the DCI as well as the Malaysian Dental Council. It has also been affiliated to international institutions like Okayama University Dental School (Japan), and an academic mentor to Oman Dental college (Sultanate of Oman). It also has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goethe University (Germany) and the University de Paul Sabatier (France) for faculty and student exchanges.

The institute aims to bring the student's potential ability to develop their skill and knowledge and develop qualified professionals to deliver quality health care services. The college has won a series of national and international awards for promoting good oral health & hygiene among the public and providing dental treatment to the rural and underprivileged people of the society.
