SUT Academy of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2006 and is run by Sri. Moogambigai Charitable and Educational Trust (a unit of Rajarajeswari Group of Institutions, founded in the year 1992). The college is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and is recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC). The institute is sprawled over 30 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds.

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences is one of the top medical colleges in Kerala. The college is located in the capital of the state, Thiruvananthapuram. The college aims to provide quality professional medical education to every student who joins the institute and the campus and the hospital lying on Vattappara to Nedumangad road, at Vencod Junction.  SUT stands for Sri Uthradom Thirunal.

SUT Academy of Medical Sciences envisions being an excellent medical & research institution of international repute; empowering next generation health care professionals through excellence and innovation in medical education, medical research, patient care and community outreach. The college has an annual intake of 100 students for MBBS admissions. The fee structure of the college is affordable to almost all sections of the society.

The college also have  a 470 bedded SUT Speciality Hospital which was inaugurated by E. K. Nayanar, then chief minister of Kerala, in 1987, at a time when tertiary care facilities were extremely inadequate in this part of the country.
