Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology was established in 2001. Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Education Trust, Bangalore created Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT) with the goal of developing research-oriented and advanced engineering degrees. Scholarships

Meritorious and economically disadvantaged students are given scholarships to further their study at these schools. The college provides a fee reduction scholarship to all students assigned by the State Government. Scholarships are also considered by management for qualified students in other categories as applicable.

Students accepted under the reserve category for SC/ST/OBC can claim a scholarship from the State Government for the tuition owed to the institution, subject to their eligibility as determined by the government from time to time.
